{I'm ENGAGED...Now What?! ~ 10 Modern Songs for your Processional Music!}

One of the hardest decisions for couples to make during their engagement period is the music that will be played at their wedding. I know it may not seem like it would be that hard, but you would be surprised. When you sit down and start to plan your big day there are so many little details to think about that you may not realize, and one of those is music. There's Processional music for your grandparents, parents, bridal party, the bridal march, recessional music, first dance, mother/son dance, daddy/daughter dance, and then list goes on and on....But don't fret!! We are here to help!

Most of the time songs for your first dance or daddy/daughter dance are easy to come by because they hold a significant spot in your heart. However one of the hardest musical pieces to choose is the processional song. Some of the typical songs that most brides choose are “Canon in D” by Pachelbel, Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus,” and Clarke’s “Trumpet Voluntary,” but if you are tired of hearing the same old music, why not mix it up with a modern, yet appropriate song for your processional music.

To give you a place to start we have complied a list of 10 songs that you may want to consider to use on your wedding day!

1. "Ave Maria" by Beyonce

2. "Feels Like Home" by Chantal Kreviazuk

3. "Make You Feel My Love" by Adele

4. "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri

5. "Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatt

6. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole

7. "Marry Me" by Train

8. "Love" by Matt White

9. "Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop" by Landon Pigg

10. "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaleson

There are a ton of songs out there to choose from, but you have to pick what's right for you and your day! If some of these songs seem a little too modern for you, be sure and check out The Piano Guys for some great acoustic renditions of some of your favorite songs!

Remember that it's ok to think outside the box and choose a modern song for your wedding day, regardless of what your grandma says! ;)

One last tip...When picking a processional song, think about what you want your bridal march to be, and how well the song will transition from one to the next! This may help eliminate some of the song choices.
