ATTENTION BRIDES: You don't have to break the bank when you start planning for your wedding day! In today's time, we automatically assume that all wedding costs are put on the bride and her family. Well, it doesn't have to be. Here is a traditional list of who pays for what when planning your wedding. Of course not all families are the same and you can issue certain responsibilites to who is capable and willing. But hopefully this will help you out and release some of that financial stress!

  • Wedding band for the groom

  • Wedding gift for the groom

  • Gifts for the bridal attendants

  • Personal stationary

  • Gowns for bridal attendants (optional)

  • Accommodations for out of town attendants (optional)

Brides Family:

  • Engagement party

  • Ceremony cost: location, music, rentals, and all related expenses

  • Entire cost of reception: food, beverage, entertainment, rental items, decorations, and wedding cake

  • Brides wedding attire and accessories

  • Wedding gift for the couple

  • Wedding invitations, announcements, and mailing costs

  • Bridesmiads bouquets

  • Transportation for bridal party from brides home to ceremony site

  • Bridesmaids luncheon

  • Photography

  • Personal wedding attire

  • Flowers for the ceremony and reception

  • Musicians

  • Security and insurance for wedding ceremony and reception

Groom:

  • Brides engagement and wedding rings

  • Wedding gift for the bride

  • Gifts for the groomsmen and ushers

  • Grooms wedding attire

  • Brides bouquet and going away corsage

  • Mothers corsages

  • Boutonnieres for attendants and fathers

  • Marriage license

  • Clergyman’s fees

  • The honeymoon expenses

Grooms Family:

  • Rehearsal dinner party

  • Personal wedding attire

  • Accommodations for the grooms out of town guests (optional)

  • Wedding gift for the bride and groom

  • Grooms stationary and thank you notes

Wedding Party:

  • Bridal shower for the bride

  • Bachelor party for the groom

  • Any travel expenses

  • Wedding attire and shoes
